One of the greatest lessons I have learned in my walk with God is understanding the authority I have through Yeshua Hamashiach.

Before I truly understood who I was in Christ, I often focused more on the power of the enemy than on the power of God. As I studied Scripture, I realised that believers are not called to live in fear but in confidence, knowing that our authority comes from Yeshua Himself.

Understanding this truth has transformed the way I face life’s challenges.

The New Covenant Through Yeshua

When Yeshua gave His life on the cross, He established a new covenant through His blood.

Through His sacrifice, those who place their faith in Him are forgiven, reconciled to God, and made new creations in Christ. We no longer stand condemned before God but are welcomed into His family by grace.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
— John 3:16

“But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son purifies us from all sin.”
— 1 John 1:7

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”
— Ephesians 2:13

Because of Yeshua’s finished work, believers now belong to God’s Kingdom. We can confidently pray in His name, stand on His promises, and trust that He has given us everything we need to live faithfully.

The Authority Given to Believers

Yeshua did not simply save us from sin—He also entrusted His followers with spiritual authority.

When the seventy-two disciples returned from ministry, they rejoiced that even demons submitted to them in Yeshua’s name.

Jesus replied:

“I have given you authority… to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”
— Luke 10:19

This authority does not come from our own strength.

It comes entirely from Christ.

Without Him, we can do nothing.

With Him, we stand under His authority and protection.

Satan’s Greatest Weapon Is Deception

One of Satan’s greatest weapons is not power.

It is deception.

He seeks to convince people of lies that keep them from trusting God.

Among those lies are:

• That he does not exist.
• That believers should fear him more than they trust God.
• That followers of Christ have no authority over temptation, fear, or spiritual opposition.

Scripture paints a very different picture.

Satan is a defeated enemy.

His influence is real, but it is limited and subject to God’s authority.

Revelation describes his defeat:

“Michael and his angels fought against the dragon… and the dragon was hurled down.”
— Revelation 12:7–9

This passage reminds us that evil does not have the final word.

God does.

Living Under God’s Protection

When we place our faith in Yeshua, we belong to Him.

God is our Shepherd, our Protector, and our Defender.

Passages such as Psalm 23 and Psalm 91 remind us that His presence surrounds those who trust in Him.

Knowing this truth changes the way we respond to fear.

Rather than living in constant anxiety about spiritual attacks, we learn to rest in God’s faithfulness while remaining spiritually alert.

Following Yeshua’s Example

When Satan tempted Yeshua in the wilderness, he began with a question:

“If You are the Son of God…”

His goal was not simply to tempt Yeshua.

It was to cause Him to question His identity.

The same strategy is often used against believers today.

The enemy whispers lies designed to make us question who we are, what God has said, or whether His promises are true.

Yeshua’s response provides the pattern for every believer.

He answered every temptation with Scripture.

He stood firmly on God’s Word.

The Word of God Is Our Weapon

The most powerful defence against deception is God’s Word.

Scripture exposes lies, strengthens faith, and reminds us of God’s promises.

The writer of Hebrews describes it this way:

“For the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword.”
— Hebrews 4:12

Paul also reminds believers to take up:

“The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
— Ephesians 6:17

The more we know Scripture, the more confidently we can stand against fear, temptation, and deception.

Stand Firm in Christ

If you have accepted Yeshua as your Saviour, remember that your identity is found in Him.

Study God’s Word.

Learn His promises.

Walk confidently in the authority He has given you.

When trials come, do not lose heart.

God often uses difficult seasons to strengthen our faith, deepen our dependence on Him, and shape us into the people He has called us to become.

As Paul reminds us:

“If God is for us, who can be against us?”
— Romans 8:31

Our confidence is not found in ourselves.

It is found in Yeshua Hamashiach, who has already secured the victory.
