Growing in faith has been a personal journey for me—filled with quiet moments, answered prayers, and even seasons when I wondered if God was listening at all. Each step has taught me something new about trusting Him, relying on His Word, and allowing His love to shape my life. I’m still growing, but here are the practices that have been helping me walk closer with Him.
Learning What Faith Really Means
I used to think faith was only about believing God could do something. But over time, I’ve learned that real faith is trusting Him even when I don’t know how things will work out. Some of my biggest breakthroughs came in moments when I had to say, “God, I don’t understand, but I trust You.”
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7
Faith has become less about having answers and more about relying on who God is. His peace has often shown up right when I needed it, reminding me that He is in control.
Reflecting on My Journey With God
When I take time to look back, I can see how God has been present in ways I didn’t notice before. Journaling has helped me remember prayers He answered, lessons learned through waiting, and blessings I overlooked in the moment.
Sometimes I go back and read what I wrote months ago, and it reminds me that God has been working all along. That’s why reflecting isn’t just nostalgic—it strengthens my faith for what’s next.
“Remember the wonders He has done.” — Psalm 105:5
Seeing His faithfulness in the past makes it easier to trust Him with the future.
Growing Closer to God Through Prayer
Prayer has become my lifeline. It’s no longer just a routine—it’s a conversation with the One who truly understands my heart. I talk to God when I’m happy, overwhelmed, confused, or thankful. Some of my most meaningful prayers have been simple, honest, unfiltered moments.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
To stay consistent, I’ve set aside times to pray, but I’ve also learned to pray throughout the day: during chores, while driving, or when a worry pops into my head. Guided devotionals and prayer prompts have helped me during those times when the words just won’t come. Prayer no longer feels like a task—it feels like breathing.
Spending Time in the Word
The Bible has become more than a book to read; it’s guidance, comfort, truth, and correction. I’ve learned that even one verse can speak powerfully to my situation. Sometimes I study a whole chapter, and other days one sentence stops me in my tracks.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
Joining Bible study groups has also helped. Hearing how others apply Scripture to their lives encourages me to see God’s Word from different angles. Setting small goals—like reading a chapter a week or memorizing one verse—has kept me engaged without feeling overwhelmed.

Worshiping in Everyday Moments
I used to think worship was only about singing in church, but I’ve learned it’s about honoring God with my heart and attention. I worship when I thank Him for a new day, when I listen to worship music while cleaning, or when I pause to admire the beauty of nature. These everyday moments have helped me feel God’s presence outside of Sunday morning.
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” — Psalm 150:6
Choosing worship, especially on difficult days, shifts my focus from my problems to God’s greatness. It reminds me that He is bigger than anything I’m facing.
Growing Through Serving Others
Serving has shown me the heart of Jesus in a new way. Whether I’m volunteering, checking on a friend, or simply being kind to a stranger, I feel closest to God when I love others the way He loves me.
“Serve one another humbly in love.” — Galatians 5:13
God doesn’t always ask for big gestures—many times it’s small acts of kindness that make the biggest impact. A listening ear, a meal, a prayer for someone, or a simple text can reflect His love in powerful ways. Serving has made my faith more practical and others-focused.
Learning to Trust God’s Plan
Trust has been the hardest part of my journey. There have been seasons where God felt silent, and I questioned what He was doing. But time and time again, He reminds me that His plans are better than mine, even when I can’t see the whole picture.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6
Surrendering my worries to Him doesn’t mean everything becomes easy—it means I’m no longer carrying them alone. When life feels uncertain, choosing to trust God opens the door to peace.
Final Thoughts
Deepening your faith doesn’t happen overnight. It takes prayer, reflection, worship, serving, and trusting God little by little. Some seasons will feel strong and others will feel uncertain—but God is faithful through them all.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8
Keep seeking Him, even on ordinary days. He is walking with you, growing you, and loving you through every step of your journey.
